The Tao of Bodywork Institute

This is a introductory course to Tao Te Bodywork. This course is appropriate for people who have no prior experience with Chinese Medicine or with Tao Te Bodywork. This course would also be appriopriate for someone who just feels that they would like to have a stronger foundation. We will be studying the basic theories involved in Tao Te Bodywork as well as participate in hands on experiences.


250 hours
Prerequisites: Qualified Instructors permission plus previous Tao Te Training. Either through coursework or through experience in treatments from a qualified instructor.

This is a first year internship in Tao Te Bodywork. Students are expected find two qualified volunteers who are willing to commit to a year of Tao Te sessions with a qualified Tao Te intern. The students will be expected to log weekly progress as well as write a two page paper at the end of the year. At the end of the year, the student will recieve a certificate of completion. They may also recieve a certificate to practice Tao Te Bodywork if they meet the criteria set forth by the instructor. Every student will be awared CEU units but there is no guarantee of a Tao Te Bodywork Certificate. This is dependent on the student.

Prerequisite: Tao Te Intern 1
This is the second year internship program. All of the above rules apply to this course.

50 hours
This course will cover Basic Chinese Meridian Theory and how it relates to the bodyworker. The meridians as they are known in Chinese Medicine are channels of energy that flow through the body. We will study the theories involved in these meridians and how they relate to body, mind, and spirit.

100 hours
This course will cover the basics of Chines Five Element Theory and how it relates to Tao Te Bodywork including nature, interactions of matter, and our personalities. We will be exploring ourselves and each other as well as the many possible ways that we fit into our society. We will also look at the connection of these elements with the energy meridians, and organ systems, as well as how they are related to our motivations.

165 hours + 40 hours in Pathology
Currently to become Nationally Certified you must have these courses. We do not currently offer these courses (as of yet). However, Cabrillo college has top quality classes offering some of these courses.

50 hours
This is a beginning course. We will be studying the concepts of Early Childhood Education and how it relates with Tao Te Bodywork. We will be studying the basics of Early Childhood Development which includes the natural processes that we go through in our learning development. We will look at the places where many of us have been detered from these processes and so are naturally drawn to experience them now.

This course will cover the basics of Yin and Yang theory which can be used to describe all of lifes phenomenons. We will talk about how this relates to Tao Te Bodywork and what use this kind of understanding can give us.

Prerequisites: Tao Te Bodywork Theory, Five Element Theory, Tao Te Intern I and II, Yin Yang Theory, Meridian Theory, and Basic Early Childhood Education I plus Instructor permission
This is an instructor training course. Students will learn what it means to lead by listening and what it means to have group consciousness. We will discuss the challenges of teaching without interferring. Students will also learn about ethical and political laws effecting Tao Te Bodywork.
